Cayuga Medical Center Launches Get Healthy Tompkins Website
The newly launched Get
Healthy Tompkins website features a free online program that rewards
individuals for setting and keeping small goals every three months to help them
stay on track with healthier lifestyles.
Get Healthy Tompkins provides the basic tools,
resources, and educational materials to encourage individuals to be more
proactive regarding their health status. It also provides incentives such as
coupons and drawings for prizes to encourage individuals to set reachable goals
to increase physical activity, improve nutrition, and undertake other healthy
behaviors.
"Cardiovascular disease is the leading health
problem in Tompkins County," states Rob Mackenzie, MD, President and CEO of
Cayuga Medical Center. "This program is designed to help our community
members reduce risk factors like obesity, diabetes, and to encourage healthy
behaviors.
"At Cayuga Medical Center, we take very seriously our responsibility to provide
excellent clinical outcomes and the best customer service, but also to help our
community members stay healthy in the first place. We believe that the
resources, incentives, and support that Get Healthy Tompkins will provide will
benefit many who live and work in Tompkins County," continues Mackenzie. "We are grateful for
the support of the Health Planning Council and Excellus
BlueCross BlueShield of Central New York in addition to our many other sponsors."
